Well, orginally I was going to purchase a piranha but read some things on here and changed my mind. After going to several pet stores I picked out an african dolphin. I believe the fish to actually be part of the mormyridae family . However, it does not have the long snout like most elephant fish.
I tried to stuff him ( I say that now) in my 20g tank but after his first day in there went out and bought a 55g tank. The 20g was just too small and the fish is already a fair size.

What substrate are you using? Gravel is not good for mormyrids they really need a sandy substrate...
