Ok so i bough my 1st Jardini Arowana its tripping out i set the ph at 7.0 and tested it and i set the temp to about 75-80 degrees. Its only about maybe 4 inchs and its swiming around its tank like crazy and bumping into the glass its also opening its mouth a lot and shaking its body. Its in a 10 gallon tank for now which i heard was fine at its size that it is now. It has eating feeder fish and some crickets thats about it. Any body know whats going on with my fish ?? also how older to you think it is ?? any help would be great i just really want to takecare of this fish well.

thanks guys

Was your water cycled? What are the Parameters? Tank mates?

What are you levels of ammonia and nitrites? Did you recently just set this tank up?

Yeah I believe your water is not yet cycled....(same thing happened to my silvers in the past....when I was a newbie).

Is the slime coat of the Jardini coming off? Or seems like it is? Also is there any cloudy eye present in the Jarini?

:screwy:

Did you cycle your tank? Feeder fish may contain diseases, and you should separate them in a diff tank to make sure they're healthy before feeding(although they aren't too nutritious). Also, start looking for a bigger tank fast. You'd be best off getting 1 big tank, rather than starting with a 10g and upgrading a few times as your jardini grows.

Some helpful threads :D :

not to be rude but so far evreything your doing for this fish is a problem.

#1. A ten gallon isnt good for a 4 inch arowana not even for now.

#2. Feeder fish have all kinds of dieseases and parasites on them and are pointless and no good for your fish.

#3. Did you cycle your tank? what are the waterparemeters?

#4. If i were you get rid of it and buy it when your more prepared for such a fish
