Got this guy at my lfs today. about 4" inches in diameter and kept alone temporarily in a 2' tank because I don't want it to go in with the aros just yet.
Can anyone ID it's sex and type? I think its a male cos I think I saw claspers...
Any tips on how to take care of it will be appreciated!

Here you go

Def a Motoro, as far as the sex its hard to tell unless you can see there underside when they are that young. The claspers are easy to see from underneath. Wait till he or she acclimates and swims up the walls of the tank then check out the package lol.

thats a motoro and unless you live in SA its not wild caught! look at the stickies for diet care etc. nice ray and good luck!

Thanks for the replies guys :)
Yeah, I was a bit confused about the whole wild caught thing too..
but, some places had the same guys for $400USD and I paid only $100 for this guy so I dunno..

I paid $200 usd for my 5" male so you got a good deal. Yours does look a little thin, maybe Im wrong and its just the pictures. Fatten her/him up a little bit and yull have a great pet. Welcome to the world of ray keeping, prepare yourself for what is about to happen. You have bought a fish that you will soon become very attached to and you might just go broke trying to make him/her happy and healthy lol.

$200!!!!!! RIP OFF.. they run no more than 150 over here, and if u know where to look u can get them for 100.

Its all dependent where you are located, here in the midwest a common Motoro
goes from anywhere between 175-200, so its not really out of line. You won't find
lower than that at an lfs anywhere in my region unless you purchase on line. And then
by the time you pay shipping you are back up there anyways.

A hundred bucks is a good price at an lfs, as long as he is healthy and eating well.
GL with the new pickup.
