huge sump wish we could see inside that sump ...how's the elec and water bill?

Thanks!

When I first got the tank up and running February of this year I cycled it with 20 Tiger Barbs. 3 died during the cycling and 17 remain to this day.

I'm just waiting for one of the Oscars to figure out that they make a tasty snack. :)

I think the sump build starts on page four of this thread:

Water here is real cheap, plus I'm on a septic tank so I don't pay sewer fees. It's about $45 every two months. I change 120 gallons a week. I think my wife uses twice that for showers a week, if not more, LOL.

For electric I'm just running a mag drive 2400 and one 250 watt heater. Lighting is (6) 9watt flourscent undercabinet puck lights that run 12 hours a day. I also have two 4' T-8 shop lights but they only are on when company is over.

I've never really run the numbers but I don't think it's costing me too much extra to run the tank. Especially compared to running the central air.

Nice looking tank it appears you have a fairly strong current coming in from the left?

that's great man.
so much more sophisticated compared to what i'm starting off with lol.

The Mag Drive 2400 discharges through a 2.5" fitting that you see in the upper right hand corner. This is directed towards the opposite corner (right to left). The strongest flow of the tank is there. Sometimes the Oscars play in it.

There is a slight flow from left to right at the bottom of the tank near the front. The rest of the aquarium is pretty calm with lots of "sleeping" spots. The Silver Dollars seem to prefer the gentle flow as they are always hanging out there when they aren't on the prowl for food. The rear on the tank was pretty stagnant so the bubble curtain was added just so it wasn't too stagnant.

When I get the OC's online I'm sure the flow patterns will change.

Thanks for all of the replies. I can't wait to do another video once my filter room is 100% complete this Winter.
