hey,
im thinking about stepping up my RNC to full reef.
what would be a good begginer coral. i reallylike the look of frogspawn, ALOT! zoos are pretty cool, and shrooms and plate corals are alright. are there any suggestions that you guys would make? also any tips to make them really POP!
please and thank you!:)

bump????

shrooms will be your best bet as starter coral. Next would be the zoo's followed by the frogspawn and plate. Hope that helps you

Agree 100%. I started with a few correlimorphs and a few zoos and now have heaps of both i also have swapped a few for other colours and have a fair few of them too.
If you use a sharp knife you only have to carefully slice them in half or even qtrs and within a few weeks you will have 2 or more in its place.
ofcourse you need perfect water before you do that.

is the same true for anenomes? or do they just stop growing at some point?

no you can not do that with anenomes. Just give them perfect water with good flow and lighting. Over time they will split (clone) all by it's self and you will have two.

Yes you actually can do it with anemonies but i wouldnt recomend it as its alot harder and alot messier if the anemonie dies.
I havent tried it so cant offer any tips. Correlimorphs are easy though and ive done heaps.

Many people recommend zoos as a beginner's coral.

HOWEVER they require more light and waterflow (especially some varieties) than many realize for good color and growth.

Mushrooms and xenia are great for starters IMO. Pulsing xenia is also good for monitoring water quality. If it stops pumping, its time for a water change!

oh man good luck with that. I am wondering if I will get the coral itch after I do my FOWLR tank for a while.
