I was cleaning up my garage the other day when I noticed this shelf that had been buried under boxes for a while now, the shelf is about 9'-10' by 3'-4' and looks like the picture below.
I thought about it and I realized what a great cage it could be to hold a Tegu, Monitor, or any other large lizard so for my first DIY I'm ganna be turning this shelf into the perfect lizard enclosure. I plan on covering the wood bottom with Astroturf and fastening a strong metal mesh/chain fence around the inside of the wood pillars and having a solid wood door with a metal sheet around it towards the far end of the shelf that swings inwards.
The best part is that the roof is roughly 5+ feet above the shelf so I could even put in a nice sized piece of wood for the lizard to climb on or build a basking area. Below is what I hope for it to look like when its done.
