Hey guys, I finally got my d3000 today. I'm still in the process of figuring out how to use it (and most of the pics I've taken so far reflect that), but here are a few of the better pics I've taken so far:

^^ This could have been a very good pic, but my pacu kept getting in the way. :irked:

And this is what's left of my lens cap (my dog [not the one in the above pics] chewed it up while I was gone earlier :swear: So now I will have to order a new one for $10):

Thanks guys.

Welcome to the DSLR family!

P.S. stay away from automatic settings.
Yeah, I know. I think the only one out of that bunch that I used auto for was the second pic (the 1st pic of the dog), but that was literally the first pic I took with this camera. The rest were taken with either full manual, or shutter priority. I have noticed, though, that auto on this cam doesn't suck nearly as much as auto on my P&S. :D

beautiful.. pics .. love the dog and arow shots the best..good luck with new camera.. i love mine...

I'm getting really confused about the settings (using full manual). For some reason, I can't figure out how to get my shutter speed past 1/5 without ending up with a rediculously dark picture. I'm trying to take pics of my aquarium at night, but it always says that there isn't enough light available, so I tried raising the ISO and aperture, but I couldn't get a decent pic with any shutter speed over 1/5, so then I tried using flash as well, and that just resulted in my pictures coming out like this:

I know I must be doing something wrong, but I'm having a very hard time figuring out what it is. Can someone help me out?
