about an hour ago i experienced my first earthquake. they say it was between 4.5 and 5. and that is very much for sweden.

My first reaction was to run to the basement, I thought it was the heating system that have exploded.

How high on the richter scale requires for buldings to fall apart?

I´ve just finished my new bathroom and I have also put concrete in the floor for my tanks. I hope it didnt cracked:(:(:(

Sure it wasn't an avalanche? J/K!

I hope all is well... and i hope you don't get these too often..

im not sure about building codes for sweden but here in california we have strict earthquake safety codes for construction and newer buildings handle 7.0 earthquakes very well ive heard

Its not really an earthquake until stuff falls off the shelves! (Advice from a Californian on top of the Hayward Fault) When we got hit by the Loma Prieta quake back in '89 my 55g went up and down and back and forth and, only move 1/4 inch(5mm) on the stand and lost a cup of water. I was pretty proud considering that was the worst I ever experienced. Oh yeah, don't run into the basement unless you plan to be buried there! Glad your ok though.

For the record, devastation usually starts at a 7 on the scale.
