This was a hand-me-down from my dad Still operational, decommissioned in '91. It was too noisy. Can't part with it.

What is the white plastic thing on the cord? On/off switch?

Yeah. On/off switch on the cord. How cool is that. And indeed, we had to oil it. That was one of the reasons why I switched to the "new" (now classic) line... didn't feel right to mess with WD-40 on a filter. The size of this thing is about the size of a 2211.

I wish more modern filters had on/off switches. Just a nice litle simple thing that comes in handy.
