I forgot to ask how big is he now?
& why remove the gravels?

He started out gray or blackish, I though he was a fader?
I moved him from a 20 gal to a 60 gal. Did not like the gravel because the 60 gal tank is exposed to sunlight which causes algae.

He is about 5-6 inches now. You think having gravels will help his coloration?

I'm not too sure about the gravel thing but some members have great results keeping fh with gravels.. I think it's entirely up to your personal preferences..
but your fh is getting sunlight so it's a good thing..
