Hi I’m not sure if this is allowed. I’m a 24 year old who used to work as designer/artist for fashion brands in nyc. I used to lurk this forum as a teenager and I was really attracted to arowanas and Flowerhorns. What also attracts me to these fish is their feng shui meaning. I hope he protects me!

I finally just got my first Flowerhorn and I love him so much. I was so excited that I cried as I’ve been waiting for years for a big setup and my own money and rules to afford a hobby that I love and that makes me happy. I am experienced with saltwater nano aquariums. I was devastated when two flights on his way to me got delayed and over the weekend too. His shipper said he may be DOA but managed to get Saturday delivery. I was initially devastated, but somehow he pulled through!

He’s 3.5 inches in a 55 gallon right now. I’m going to upgrade to a 90 gallon that have I already bought, I just am waiting as long as possible as I’ll have to hire someone to lift it onto the stand lol. I almost injured myself getting this tank up onto my kitchen ledge and nearly broke it. And myself. It’s in my garage in a steel box. Hopefully I can get a few months out of this tank.

I wish they could tolerate tank mates as I would love to have some other fish swimming around to look at but I’m happy enough with just him. One thing I have noticed is his little teeth. I’ve never had a big predatory fish (unless you count pea puffers…lol) and even small I was shocked at the little things.

I have purchased a 200G and I’m hoping to get a arowana someday. Maybe someday I’ll have bigger and will be able to get a ray. Thanks for being a source of knowledge for me for so many years! I am so excited I finally have abig fish so I can post.A209AEEB-1CD2-46DD-9618-03F059F69A31.pngI haven’t named him yet but I may call him Marble, Pea, Kahoo, etc.

Congrats, that’s a great looking flowerhorn! Agree…the cat pic is hilarious
Thanks! My dog and cat stare at him all the time. He’s very pretty. It’s weird because the photo that made me buy him was just plain blue. I guess he decided to develop a more color

Welcome, congrats on finally getting your FH and thanks for telling me something about flowerhorns that I didn't know, not that I know a lot about them in the first place...that's a good looking fish in the photos, and one tough little guy to boot, you chose well.

I've only had one flowerhorn so am far from an expert but at 3.5" that fish appears to be fully mature. Should that not seem odd?
True, my flowerhorn rn is around 4-5 inches and its kok (hump on the head) is noticeably smaller compared to this one. Maybe its the genetic line/ good breed and diet?
