Dear all.
I am new to FH, attached is the pic of my first FH bought recently.
Can someone tell me what type of FH this guy belongs to?
Also suggest some good (other than live food) with which he can get good health and show up his colors.

Thanks in advance.FH.jpg

Nice flowerhorn you got there, Looks to be a ZZ maybe a RD.
As for food either try some NLS or hikari. Unless you want to grow out his kok and get some humpy head or Grand sumo.

it's a red dragon, have some nice pearls on it too. yeah, hikari is good but if it's unavailable in ure lfs, go for some cichild pellets. make sure u check the contains of the food (especially spirulina tht helps it color up)

Thanks for your replies. Will he get more red color naturally further, or do i need to feed any special colour enhancers?
He is new to the fish tank is it because of that?
and also, as you said it is red dragon, for them dorsal fins will be plain or some pattern will come up later?

Fins will mostly be plain only.
He is is a ZZ Red Dragon. He looks like he will naturally colour up. Need to see more pics to really tell you.

Feed him a quality pellet like NLS or you can also go for Hump Head/EVER RED or Grand sumo. But thats up to you.

Feed him 3 times a day till he is over 7 inches. Starve him for 24 hours every week.

Keep temp high, 82-85.

Probably I will add some more clearer pics.. regarding food, will it be a good feed if i give XO humpy head, Ever Red and Starry like feeding one at a time and three times three different food in a day?

Yes that's a good diet plan. I followed that for my last FH. My current FH I mixed humpy head and ever red in a large box :)

if he's happy and feeding good, yeah he'll color up naturally. stress and infections are the cause for it to fade. i think there are no more patterns for it to appear. post some clearer pics, ure pic's a bit blur. take a pic of him in the natural sunlight. :)
