picked him/her up yesturday he/she is a little shy atm sure that will not last long, gave a light feed this morning witch was taken straight away :thumbsup: so all looks well, was marked up in lfs as red texas is this so?? comments welcomed cheers.

I see how you guys could get them confused but the fish pictured looks like a red texas to me. I have some little king kamfas and texas around the same size and they do look similar. You guys be the judge.

cheers cam i hope he does to i guess only time will tell, at roughly what age or size do they fade ?
 
I am from Los Angeles, from time to time, I always looking for a true red texas, I have never see it in a Aqu store. if you get one from the store, you are a super lucky guy. BTW, your fish is very nice.
 
There are many different people breeding "red texas" but it's rare you actually get one that fades like the nice ones you see online. Although they are becoming more readily available the nice ones are still usually $100+ and come from Asian countries. The ones I posted I just received last week they cost me $20 each and came from Rainybetta (Thai seller) on aquabid.com I am not sure how they will turn out but I am hoping for the best. Mine are about 1.25" and you can see a little red in their fins already. When they do fade expect them to start fading anywhere from 2-4" and to be fully faded by 5-7" most of the time but then again it all depends on the strain/quality/genetics of the fish.

Bean you are right about kamfa and red texas usually having the same mother but I still think this one is a red texas and not a king kamfa.

I hope you continue to update yours for us trophs mine are about the same size so let's see who can grow theirs out faster lol.
