Hey everyone. I got my first flowerhorn. The guy I got it from breeds them. He is about 6 inches and the guy said it was a Super Red Dragon. How does he look? The pictures aren't that great from my cell phone and he is a lot more red than the picture shows. The red is actually a deep red. On the crappy cell phone pictures it looks like he has ick on his Kok, but it's not. I paid $75 for him. I was going to get his father but he was huge and wanted $160. Too much money and size for him for my first flowerhorn and he was already sold when I picked this one up. Did I get a good deal and do you think he will get better as he grows? He started eating as soon as I put him in the quarantine tank. Any opinions good or bad will be appreciated, Ed.

I'm new to flowerhorns and there is so much to learn. What does fade mean? When I hear fade, I'm thinking that the colors will fade. Does this make the fish worth more or less? Also, if it does fade, is this good. Here's a picture of his father that I was going to get. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/for/3747288568.html More opinions and advice please. I hope that the colors will brighten and not "fade". Thanks, Ed.

Come everyone, any more opinions.

Fade mostly means all the dark pegments will fade away leaving a fish with only the reds oranges and light pearly colors. It does look like your fish is fading in the middle. Could never finish, or could completely fade, it's all up to the fish's genetics. Still a nice fish, looks just like a grown up version of mine.
