Today is Friday 11/02/07 and I just purchased my first Arowana. I got a silver around 6, or 7 inches long. I put him in a 100 gal. tank with two Bichirs, and two Parrott cichlids. As soon as I save up some more cash I would like to purchase one more, maybe a Red, Black, or maybe even a Jar. What do you guys think???:naughty:

you really don't have enough room for another aro in that tank. the jardinis get very aggresive from what i hear. i've got one about eight inches still no signs of aggression yet. it might not be a good idea if you get another arowana. as soon as that fish starts groing your tank will become overcrowded quickly

Red would be an Asain so illegal, balcks are nice but very expensive, and Jars don't do well with tankmates. Another silver will have about a 50% chance of living together. The real problem is the size of your tank though. You do realize that in a year that cute little silver aro is gonna be 20 plus inches long and needing lots of swimming room. Like to see some pics too.

stick with one and be prepared to buy a much bigger tank. a jardini will kill the rest of your fish one day. a red as in asian? theyre illegal. blacks are cool but its rare to keep 2 aros together without major fighting. good luck.

Yea i agree with the others....if you plan on adding a black or another silver get a bigger tank say maybe a 180 gallon or for the best of it all get something really big like a 240 gallon.Reds(Asian) are illegal in the US so thats off the list.As for the Jardini...i had some experience with them and as far as you can tell they are very aggressive...They are like the fighters in the Arowana world. You may have some chance with more robust fish like aggressive cichlids..but its a hit and miss attempt.Well all I can say right now is Good Luck finding a Larger tank soon.

oh and i forgot to mention that you 100 gallon tank will not be as sufficient as you think it is.....some people think its a large tank that any giant fish can go into...but its not like that at all...Plus with a fish that can grow 24+ it'll out grow that tank in its nearing 1st year.Plus at its size right now it may even make 20" in half a year..

It's a matter of preception, last year at this time a 100g was a big tank. Now a 100g is a midsize tank. I plan for a 100g to become a small tank over the next couple years:D

Then 100 gallons will be like a fish bowl. And we'll all have 10000k tanks :D

Yeah, you'll need a bigger tank. At least 180 gallons or so.
