I had a snail outbreak recently and normally I would welcome the a free cleaning crew but they seem to be sucking on my Banjo cat so they must die. I picked up two Dojo Loaches today, think they'll do a good job at snail genocide?

Yes, their natural color is actually this:

There is also the peppered variety:

As to the OP snail problem, I don't know how effective these guys are going to be... botia loaches are really what people recommend when you hear about loaches for snail control. I would suggest some yoyo loaches, or polka dot loaches, for any tank under 125 gallons, and please get at least 3, and ideally get 6.

I would definitely have preffered to get a more natural color but this is what they had. Whether or not they kill all the snails for me isnt a huge deal I'd kinda been wanting them anyway. If I find some yoyos though I might snag them up for snail control. I did see one of mine picking at some rocks where a bunch of snails were clustered so maybe they do eat 'em.

No, dojo loaches never eat snails in my experience. I had some with my apple snails, ramshorns and MTS of all ages. Poor snails get rammed around all the time while the dojos try to scurry for foods.:nilly:

Well those snails are kinda big, the ones Im dealing with are tiny. Thats one above the Loaches eye in the second pic

you should have gotten clowns
Too big for the 29g they'd be going in. I've been wanting these for awhile snail problem or not. If they dont handle it I will, just a little slower
