Once I figure out how to post pictures up, I will show you the 40 gallon bowfront aquarium I bought. I bought this 40 gallon bowfront aquarium with a light, HOB filter (large), heater, and accessories at a local Goodwill for $10.00!!! A steal! I bought it, took it home, leaked tested it. TIGHT! No leaks. Previous to this steal I bought crushed coral, and some sea salt, because I have been wanting to set up a Marine Reef tank... my first one! YIKES! I really dont know what I am doing, except mixing salt with water, temp, and introducing live rocks and sand in time. I Have no reef light yet, and no protein skimmer. I need both really bad. I have maintained the tank and it is doing great; I had some trouble keeping the temp in range, and I think it is good now. The live rock is actually doing great! There are some sea snails and a couple WIERD looking caterpillar-type-ish things crawling on these live rock, coming out when I turn the light off??? Anybody know what these are? I also have some type of seaweed or something that came with th rocks, it is green and adds a nice touch. I bought chemicals. A lot. Cost me $67.00 damn thats a lot of $$$ but I NEED a reef light for an 18-24" bowfront tank, and I would like to buy it used, but only if it works. What types are the best lights, for a cheaper price> And protein skimmers as well? Also, there are some neat little coral-like stems with hair-like things on them, and they wave in the current of the water movement. Very small, and healthy looking (Im surprised, without the reef light and all) and it is orange. Also there are small brown-ish type "bushy" stems, and there are a few of these. There is a patch of what looks like green slime, but the pet dealer who sold the live rock to me said it was some kind of organism or something. Anybody who can tell me what all of these little things are, and where I should get a used or cheap but great reef light and protein skimmer would be nice, and I need some advice! Thanks!
