Hello, My name is Holmfridur and I'm from Iceland.

This is my first post in this forum and i just got my first monster a week ago.

It's an African Lungfish, and he's really beautiful ...and now I need some information about it.

He's in a rather small tank right now (85l) but in 2 days he will be in a much bigger tank. and i was wondering how big of a tank I will need for it...The fish is about 36 cm I think right now, and i've been offered for almost no money a 250 liter aquarium, I know for sure that that is not enough but that will have to do in maybe 2 months atleast. How should the setup in the tank be ? Will it eat the plants if i would but some in the tank ?...should it have a cave to hide in ? or is the setup not important ? and how fast will it grow in 2 months on a good diet. ( please tell me in centimeters :) )

Thank you ^^,

Welcome!
I keep many lungfish, and they are AWESOME!!! Yours is just a little guy, still, but will grow exceptionally fast. You can count on at least 10 cms in 2 months if fed steadily.
He will not eat the plants, normally, but he will definitely uproot them, and a cave would be appreciated by him. They don't like bright lighting, and you can feed him a lot of meaty foods - cut fish, shrimp, some beef, and pellets, as well as earthworms. They usually will not tolerate tankmates, at least not for extended periods of time. Good luck!

Welcome to MFC community. You will learn alot here.

Great ! ...thanks for the quick reply ^^,

And please tell me if there is anything else important i should know about my "little" Lungfish :P...I think this is the only way i can get info on those fish because there are only 3 lungfish in Iceland that i know about ( i worked at an aquarium store last summer) and I own one of them :) so people here really dont know anything about them, Sadly =/

If you could convert that to gallonage I could help you more.
Other than what I posted, you should be good.

That'll be good for a while!
