So today I got my first peacock bass! it's about 3 inches and is currently in a 55 grow out that's moderately planted. For filtration I currently have a planted sump and trickle filter that has ceramic rings and ammonia removers in the submerged section and bioballs in the trickle part. For food I have waxworms, frozen bloodworms, freeze dried shrimp, pellets and feeder fish (rosies and mosquito fish).

Any tips on keeping them or housing them in general? I know he won't fit that tank for long and am saving for future homes for him.

You will have about 6-7 months and then an upgrade will be needed. It sounds like you have everythin
g covered and the guy's gave you some good advice try to get pellet's into his diet. Since this is your first time I suggest if he doesn't eat anything but feeders then give him feeder's until he hit's 8''. There is a lot of good information in the threads so get yourself some coffee and have a good night of interesting CICHLA reading. And welcome to the siccness of Cichla.

I put in a 4 inch sun fish with him. The sad thing is that my LFS didn't even ask me what tank size I have before I bought him

Try to add more bro, Pb don't really do well alone, they need companion.
