I picked up a small 3" pbass recently at my LFS. I once thought these fish were overrated, but after watching the little guy hammer feeders in his tank , I decided to reconsider. Straight out of the bag, he was took frozen krill despite his 45 minute car trip. The appetite on him is like no other fish I've kept... even when he's stressed, he wolfs down food.

I can see why these fish are different. Sadly, I can't dedicate a tank to them due to my limited space, so I will probably just be growing this guy out to medium size and selling him. Someday, though, I want to own some big green monster pbass.

:grinyes: Now you know why we love Cichla.

"big green monster pbass" are Orinocensis.

You should post a pic of your new little guy.

He just ate a pellet... I don't see how it could possibly be hard to get these guys off live food. It seems like he'll eat anything!

It's only hard when the LFS you go to only feed them feeders.

And your pbass could be either Monoculus, Ocellaris or Orinocensis. Most likely Monoculus or Ocellaris though.

he looks nice

Probably ocellaris..
