I've always wanted a pike but could never find any in my area. I finally found one! He's about 9" and I think he is a lenticulata but please correct me if I'm wrong. I think I got a pretty good deal on him as he was only $20 :) What do you guys think of him?

Looks like a lent, and $20 is a steal.

Great lookin lent! Has some great green from what that picture shows.

How and where you'd get that lent for $20? Can you get a side pic with the dorsal up? Would be able to tell the sex.

Probably a bit young to sex yet but agree that it is a lent and yes, $20 is a hell of a price!!

Should be able to sex a lent at 9", I was able to sex mine at 4-6"

Thanks everyone! Hes still a little shy but I will try to get a side shot of him today. Hes a cool fish :)

Oh and I got him from an lfs about 20 min from my house. Apparently hes been there for a while.

He looks great, so they've probably taking good care of him.

To help with the shyness, take a seat in front of the tank, at least once a day for 20mins if time permits. If you know what they were feeding him, drop a couple in the tank while you're in front of it...your pike will associate you with food, and should help the fish come out of its shell faster. Soon it'll be begging for food when you walk by.

He's much less shy today and will come out of his hiding spot after a few minutes of me sitting in front of the tank. The place I got him from was feeding him guppies. I'm not going to feed him any feeders. He's already acting interested in the pellets but hasn't taken any yet. I'm going to try to get some more pictures of him tonight :)
