My First Planted

Well i finally decided to spend the money and go and purchase the T5 lighting that I needed to start my planted 55gal.

Went to the lfs and got 48' GLO lighting with bulb. After coming back from a weekend vacation I came to the fish tank to noticed Ive lost my texas ciclid along with 5 tetra. Friend of my told me I had ick. Bought some aquari-sol turned up the temperature and that seemed to clean the tank. Other than the lights, i got rid of the concrete blocks I had in there bought a piece of driftwood( liked very much) along with the amazon sword.

Tell me what you think, give suggestions good or bad. lfs said more plants coming in on friday, going to go and grab some along with some fish, tank is WAAAY to empty!

tank looks good. and like you said it does look a little empty so i can't wait to see what will be added. any idea on what other plants you're going to get. if you don't taking suggestions i would say some kind anubias and/or a val. I'm i love with these plants lol. Can't wait to see how this turns out

Very nice improvement! Some more plants will make an even bigger differrence.

looking good, now get that thing filled with plants! what are you doing for co2?

Thanks, going to the lfs tonight after work!! I am not using any co2 or fertilizers. I was thinking about using fertilizers but Im going to see how it does on its own.

How many watts in your T5 bulb? By the way, I finally figured out what that is in your last picture....nice socks!! I though it was the back of the couch at first!

Lord, I apologize for that, this cold weather brings out the devil in me.

thanks, It is putting out about 200 watts all together. I'm going tomorrow to the lfs i picked up some plant bulbs, do you think its possible to grow them?

200w of T5 lighting and no co2??????? man youre gonna get some serious algae problems. i had algae problems on my 55g with pressurized co2 and 108w of T5 lighting.
