This is my first post here at monsterfishkeepers.com. I would like to say hello to everyone, and introduce myself. My name is Vern, and I live in North Carolina. I became interested in monsterfishkeepers.com after seeing the 50,000 gallon monster tank. I am a student in college, and I intend to get my degree in either marine biology, theoretical physics, astronomy, or medicine.
I currently own two tanks. There are small, and nothing special. I have one that is a 55 gallon, and another that is a 29 (I believe). In the 55 gallon I currently have too many fish, I believe, therefore I'm waiting to build a larger tank starting next month. I currently have 1 Albino Tiger Oscar, 1 Tiger Oscar, 2 Green Terror Cichlids, 1 Blue Gourami, 1 Gold Gourami, 1 Kissing Gourami, 1 Banded Leporinus, 1 Crayfish, 1 Pterophyllum scalare, and 1 Red Velvet Swordtail.
In the 29 gallon tank, I have nothing but Black Convict Cichlids. They had to be moved out of my 55 gallon tank, because they kept breeding and murdering my other fish. So far I have lost many, many, many fish because of the Black Convict Cichlids.
My current plan is to build a 8'x2'x3' tank (LxWxH). I don't know if I want to use wood, or metal, yet. Any advice that any of you more experienced fish keepers have would be greatly appreciated.
