hi, im a new forum member, i just bought a 125g tank and set it up and let it cycle for a month (even though the previous owner had other fish in it) made sure everything was correct, went to the LFS to look at some fish and a ray caught my eye.... i knew i wanted to get one for my new tank, that was 2 weeks ago, after i realized that i went home and did a google search and found all the info i could about freshwater sting rays and eventually ran into this site (wish i had hit it first because it had all the info i needed) well today was the amazing day, i went to the store, found out all i could from them about the ray (next to ****ing nothing the manager thought "teacup" was a species and told me it only grew to 5.5inches which i knew was complete BS) made sure the ray was eating for them, then made the purchase, $58.98+tax black worms and some shrimp, take it home, do the slow drip into the bucket to get the ray ready to go in the tank, drop her in (didnt see any claspers, im no expert but i think this ray has a vagina.. er the ray equivalent) she immediately starts exploring, it was.. idk amazing to watch and so me and my cousin (who has been helping with all the work on the tank housing it at his house and paying for some of the stuff) drop the shrimp in and she immediately eats:nilly: no scary time period where it wont it

so now to the real reason im here... id like some help IDing my new baby shes got about a 5inch disk and the tale is about as long as her disk she looks like a dark brown and she has light yellowish spots all over her disk when you look at her closely, i will have a few pictures when my cousin sends them too me i just wanted to get the typing out of the way

the guy at the fish store was clueless and the manager was kind of a dick insisting it was just a "teacup" so i dont really know what kind it is but its beautiful

thats about as close as you can get without an actual picture of it :)

i wish i had the time, money, skill, space to have a ray

i was actually amazed it ate first day i was completely prepared to baby the living hell out of it to get it to eat
