I am so stoked to have my first Ray and taking on the challenges of keeping it happy and healthy.

Sorry if you've read any of my other threads I can only post links to my pictures from my iPhone.

Anything you guys can tell me as far as tips or advice I'm always open too. I do have river stone in my tank which I was told isn't good for there underside and will be switching to maybe sand or bare bottom.

I just got it at what I would consider a HUGE steal atleast for my area.

It's current tank mates are:

1. Silver arowana

2. Gar

3. Spotted pleco

4. (2) Small pike cichlids

ok here are a couple shots. Oh one last thing I think it's a female.

what size tnk do you have?
I would, if it were me, go ahead and get rid of the pleco. No since taking the chance. But thats my opinion.
and swith out that rock.. Sand works well and with my experience, easier to keep clean. Any foods you put in the tank will just stay on top of the sand and easy to get out or easier for the fish to find and eat all up.
Nice ray, what size is it.
when she/he swims up the glass, look under it and see if its a male or female. Males will have claspers like sharks and will be around were the tail meets the body...

No not a huge by any means. It's a standard 125. This is going to be my grow out tank. I've already researched a few sites like glass cages and fish tanks direct. My aim is for a 500 gallon for them but I will end up with 300+ within the next couple months around tax return. My biggest fish in this tank is probably a foot and that's the gar. The arowana is 9-11 inches. The Ray is 5-6 inches. And my two pike cichlids are about 5 inches. I am more then confident that this inclosure will
hold them fine without issues till mid feburary.

Ok I thought they where like sharks. So it's a female no male parts.

I can always throw the pleco in with my cichlids that's not too big it's about 6-7 inches and like to hang out by the heaters.

Also I heard that the rays will get burned on the heaters so someone suggested I get/make some heater guards.

The gravel should be gone by Wednesday.

Thanks for the info and responses!
