This is my first ray, I picked her up last weekend. She's 4 months old now. I'm hoping the pattern on her back inbetween her spots and her spots will brighten? Let me know what you think.

Looks GREAT and you should not have any issue with that sand at all it's very small grain just perfect

Thanks she's abit different to the standards motoro we have here. The mum was Leo x motoro. The gravel is farely fine it's a little bit more course then sand. I will be keeping a close eye on her over the next couple weeks so if irritation does occur I can remove it.

Fingers crossed it does though. So some rays do take a fare while to darken but then again some never do? She's eating plenty of chopped up salmon but I'm trying to get her on hakari carnivore to vary her diet but not much interest atm.

I've started stuffing the salmon with carnivore pellets and shes eating it. This worked on weaning my NTT onto pellets but only time will tell.

Roughly 5" disk. What are the odds of her darkening? Would darker substrate help or not really.
