Hello Everyone,

Here's a couple pictures of my first tank. I've had a couple other tanks when I was much younger but I never took care of them and never really wanted to have fish until a few months ago. Since then I've been studying and looking for used tanks.

This is a 46gal bowfront with a FX5 that I picked up for $250 for everything (including the fish).

That's a spankin deal you got...filter alone is worth almost that amount.:headbang2

Aye, I was happy when I found it. The stand wasn't in the greatest condition but some paint and sealant worked perfectly.

I don't understand why the 2nd photo is sideways. It wasn't when I uploaded it :P

great deal! nice set up, i recommend a black background.

How would you make the background? I've seen people spray paint tanks. Should i do that or just put paper, or something else entirely?

Whats the best way to hide the intake / outtake for the filter? My finance isn't impressed with it so I'd like to hide it if possible.

The filter alone costs more than what you payed for. And new fx5 goes for $400 in my area

The FX5 is $300 CAD new around here. I looked at a similar setup and it was $1000 new before taxes so I did get a good deal.

The reason it was so cheap is because the previous owner didn't look after it at all. The filter was totally clogged up and the tank had so much algae on it. The water was disgusting and I'm surprised the fish didn't die.

use weed blocker membrane. u get it at gardening stores and possibly home depot. its usually 3'X100' for $9.99. so it will last u along time.. the best part about it, is its water proof!!
