I did my first tank reseal last night on a 20H that had sprung a leak and was supposed to be tossed in the trash. Finally its now winter and I had nothing else to do.
I was really happy the way the tank cleaned up after razor blading all of the old silicon off. I even was able to take some extra time with the razor blade and clean off some algae on the back glass.
I'm no expert with the caulking gun so I figured this would be my biggest challenge. I didn't tape the tank so I have some excessive silicon around all the edges in places that I don't think it needed to be. I wasn't to happy with it last night but after a night of curring I think it looks pretty good, although a bit excessive on the silicon amounts.
My biggest challenge seemed to be the short bottom edges of the tank. The caulking gun just didn't want to fit in there nicely.
I'm going to let it cure a couple days and give it a try with just a couple gallons in the bottom to test the bottom edge seals.
