So I just finished putting together this little tank of mine and have tested it for safety. (I had to cut out some glass and attach it to the bottom, then rigged an 80 watt peltier unit at 6 volts to heat the tank to about 80 degrees).

I am planning on getting a betta, but i also wanted to add some guppies or something else, but i know bettas are very territorial and I don't want to displease the little guy. What do you guys recommend?

PS
The tank is really small (only about a gallon) and will be fresh water at 80 degrees. I can lower it using various resistors in my setup, but I'd like to not have to go lower than 75 so as to keep my betta happy.

I dont think a single betta would need any filtration nor even a powerhead/oxygen.
I saw them here being kept in a jar with a lid on. Very hardy fish yet very strange.. :screwy:

I haven't implimented a filtration/oxygen system yet, but that's because bettas breath oxygen directly from the surface. But if i want to add another small fish i would have to do it for that one. Any suggestions on what kind?

that tank is way to small for any fish, check out The End-All Mini Monster tread in the forum. But I say a single betta is most probable fish. You dont need anything else, just a fish, water, and the tank. Besides you could see the whole tank without anything blocking the view.

Anything else that you put in there will be destroyed by the betta.

no it wouldnt. bettas are often great communtity fish. it might but not neccesarily. also nice fish! i wouldnt add anything to that one though
