About 2 months ago I posted a few pics of my needlenose gars thinking that I was ok in doing so and in the process got slammed for not having a "true gar" and being in the wrong place.
Fast forward to a few days ago and somehow I was fortunate enough to come across a "true gar" and jumped at the opportunity to get him. They aren't easy to come by where I live. Thanks again Charles! As you can see he's a spotted gar and he's about 5". He's healthy for the most part despite the fact that he apparently had a little run in with a puffer fish and lost his right front fin in the process. I'm not sure if it will grow back or not, but he's still a lil guy so I'm going to try and beef him up a little bit and maybe it will grow back. Anyways I added some feeders to his tank earlier today and he ate for the first time so I'm happy about that. He had an epic battle with this large guppy and it took him about 10 minutes of wrestling with it before he finally swallowed it down. Here are some pics.
