My dad and me made this stand a little while ago for my 125. It's not the best, but it's my first DIY stand so not too shabby.

Made with 2x4's and a few extra 4x4's lying around with 1/2 in. sheet of plywood on top.
Here's the tank on it. Getting the FX5 in the morning!!!:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2Sorry about the mess, trying to get everything situated.

So what do you all think, it'll do at least until I move in a year or so to NC.

Forgot some stuff. It will be filtered by a FX5 and a 55 sump(already in the works). Expecting a big bioload.

Stock: Who knows, any large fish really. Right now there are two florida gars(12 and 14 in) and I want a nice 9-12 in silver aro. After that IDK really. I know Aro will outgrow and possibly gars but it'll do for now. I'm excited to get this thing totally setup!

That looks like an accident waiting to happen. The legs are plenty strong for the verticle force but if something were to push hard on that stand from side to side I wouldn't want to be standing by it. Put some bracing on those legs.

We've already tested that theory. Shook it to hell with it empty then filled. It will not rock more than an inch. Plus I bought this in January it took us until last week just to get it done(my dad is busy and I have no clue on how to use power tools). It's in a corner, I bought a 3 foot step stool so I don't have to lean on it or anything like that. Thanks though. :)

Nice build!
I would add some horizontal supports though....better safe than sorry :)
If you are going to leave it the way it is, make 100% sure that the stand and tank are completely level.
Any uneven weight distribution could make the stand "lean" :(
This is where the horizontal braces would help.

Not sure I would test it this way myself :WHOA:

Yeah me and my dad knew it wasn't the best idea but we wanted a worst case scenario. :D Thanks for the info though, will indeed make the next big tank I get a better stand. For our first stand it's not too bad.

That is scary. You don't want any movement at all. Put 2x4 frame around the bottom at least. Check this for an idea.

Thanks for the link.:)

Thanks all, just though I would share.

I definitely wasn't trying to dog on your stand....I think it looks great (I also like the stain you chose) I just don't want you to have a problem with your stand later on. Remember your tank when filled with water rocks is over 1000lbs

I would have added horizontal supports on the bottom too.
