I got a 55 gal with a 5-6 inch Chinese Perch, 3-4 inch common pleco, and a 6-7 inch Black ghost knife.

The tank is plnated and has a cave/log hiding spot that the BGK always stays in. The ;perch always stays at the top, and the pleco is all over the tank. He is the most active and he swims the top and bottom and all over from side to side.

The BGK was the 1st fish, then the erch was introduced about a week later and then the pleco was introduced about 1-2 months ago.

Everyone seems to get along, but I had noticed the plecio being a little aggressive soemtimes towards both the BGK and the perch. When the lights were off I'd see the pleco jumping around the tank and sometimes the perch might be close by him checking him out, and I'd see the pleco jump at him in an aggressive way to back him off. Nothing realyl serious and Ive only seen this a few times and this was awhile back. Then I noticed the pleco was being a little aggressive towards the BGK, he sometimes trys to kick him out of his log, and the BGK has always had the log and its his. A few times during feeding time the pleco will try and take the bloodworms from teh BGK, he usualyl doesnt succeed, but a few times he got the worms and jumped on top of it so the BGK couldnt get it.

This has only happened a few times, but the BGK usually takes it back from him.

Just recently at night I'd hear like a splash sound in the tank and alittle noise I saw the pleco near the top of the tank sucking the glass like usual, then I saw the perch would creep slowly towards the pleco then charge real fast at him to bite him. But the pleco would take off real fast and avoid being bit. This has been happening maybe for the last week or so. And it doesnt happen on an on, ive seen it just a few times. And today the pleco and BGK got in a big tussle. It was feeding time and the pleco was going nuts and trying to steal the worms and him and the knife were rolling around at each other but it seems like the pleco is more dominat cause the BGK avoids uit and retreats like he doesnt wanna fight.

I sometimes see the pleco like charge at the BGK shortly and the BGK retreats as if hes scared to fight. None of them are getting any damage, it just seems like some bullying. I figured these guys are fighting over territory and food possibly. The reason the perch is charging at the pleco tryint o bite him is because the pleco hangs around the top, and then theres fighting at the bottom as well with the pleco and BGK. But the BGK and Perch dont bother each other ever.

Its weird that the pleco is the smallest, but hes the one messing around, and hes not techinically suppose to be aggressive like this. And I dont know of this is odd, but the pleco will eat meat, and I tohught they were vegetarians. He only eats worms though as far as meat.

But what does this all sound lilke to you guys? Is it just soem fighting over territory?

They got along always and just recently it seems they are now messing with each other. What do you think I should do? Will this eventually go away once territory is established? As far as I know, the top and middle is all the perches area and the bottom is the BGK's, but the BGK only stays in one area which is his hiding log, hes reclusive and only come out to eat.

Maybe they just want a bigger tank, i don't know really but I read your post so I'm replying.
What you could do is buy a Red Devil and he will put them all in check.

Size just doesn't matter to some fish; I once had a 2' arowana that kept getting beat up by a 2" feeder. What you could also do is try adding another hiding spot so that the knife and pleco don't have to compete. Sorry, but I don't have any suggestions regarding the pleco v. perch dispute.

I would remove the pleco, and start looking for an upgrade on the tank. The only reason I say to remove the pleco is that it seems to be causing the problems, and the perch sounds like it's trying to eat it. Chinese Perch are night the brightest fish in the world, but they'll amaze you with how much they can get in their mouths. I don't want you to wake up to a dead chinese perch with a pleco hanging out of it's mouth.
