my convicts are beating up my other fish because they had babies
should i remove them from the tank

^^ +1

I'd suggest getting a 20 gallon for them if you don't already have one as they're gonna keep spawning no matter what you do if they're kept together - but a divider could be a decent temporary fix

i might return them
If that is the only option, then yes return them if you can. Store credit isnt bad but saving the life of your fish is more important than anything. What about the fry??

Isn't this site supposed to be a place to interact with other people in the hobby and to ask for help when needed? I assumed that this is what most forum sites are about. Remember that you were a "noob" at one point to. You were born with no knowledge of fish and had to acquire it somehow through other people or through trial and error. If it was the latter, I'm sure that there was much error as ignorant people seem to struggle with asking for help. Realize that your not "God of the fish". You weren't born with all the knowledge in the world in regards to aquatic creatures. The OP is simply asking for help. Respect them for having the decency to ask for help from people that have been in their situation before, so that they can make the same successful moves previous people have and also avoid potentially bad ones. If you "hate stupid fish noobs", may I suggest that you just avoid forums with people asking for help because apparently your no help to them and both you and the "noobs" will benefit from you not posting.

From my experience chichlids can be rather aggressive but what I've done in the past with my more aggressive fish is netting them. I have this 1 gallon net thing which I place them in for maybe a couple days, they'll want to get out of it pretty bad, and they will injure their lips from pecking at the net, but once i release them they're friendlier. Other methods I use is sticking them in QT for while and placing them back in. I'd remove the fry though, I usually move my fish to a breeder tank and leave the fry in and move the parents back into general population. U can also try a divider with the parents, convicts are very aggressive when breeding, but mine chilled out after awhile.

The point I am making is he must have known what he was doing when getting a pair of cons. Now is returning them and now has the responsibility to do something with the babies. I can understand about being ignorant, but this guy is stupid and irresponsible.

just siphon out the fry for a quick fix or remove one of the 2 cons, the second of which is a permanent solution.

Maybe he didn't know what he was doing. Simply assuming that he did is unfair to him. Take the mature approach and say something along the lines of," well here is how you can fix your problem I'm glad I could help, next time you need to research your fish before you buy it". That is being kind of a dick, but its the honest truth. You can't simply call a guy stupid based off of one mistake, otherwise this whole world would be stupid. Now, you may say it is but I assure you that it isn't as maybe the decision was based off of wrong information someone else told him and it was the other person that was stupid and not the OP at all.
He may be irresponsible for THIS purchase, yet there is no need to label him irresponsible because he bought some fish and didn't research it. I'm sure you have made the same mistake. I guarantee you have. Probably 99.9% of the people at this site have at some point or another, but most probably won't admit it. I'll be the first to admit that I have indeed purchased a fish that I didn't research. It happened to be a Fiji Puffer. I didn't realize that they would devastate my corals like it was and I ended up having to take it back to the LFS for some credit. Does that make me a horrible person who shouldn't be allowed to keep fish? No, it does not. If you said yes, then I would say make it that everyone who doesn't preform the correct amount of water changes, overstocks, over feeds, doesn't feed them the correct diet or doesn't medicate the fish properly unable to keep fish at all because of irresponsibility. I do not see a way that anyone in the hobby hasn't done one of these, any of which can be considered a "noob" thing to do.
Not changing your water, etc. is no different to the fish than buying irresponsibly because in the end it is still unfair to the fish and your being an irresponsible owner (not an irresponsible being). Your tactic of going around and saying your stupid, etc. does not only potentially drive people away from the site but also makes your look trivial and simpleminded. So unless your ploy is to undermine the site and keep driving people away to the point that there is no more MFK, than I suggest that you think before your open the orifice below your nose. Whether or not you could do the previously stated opinion, I highly doubt as you don't seem like the highly intellectual person that would be required to do that.
Anyhow, this site is filled with caring and knowing people who would simply disregard your statement and await a response from someone who actually knows the answer and doesn't troll around the forums. So do us all a favor and stop wasting space on these forums with your useless jargon. Go bug some other site where you may or may not be of some use.
