In situations like this, all you really need do is separate the fish (or quarantine if you can), turn up the temp to around 80-82 and add 1 tablespoon of kosher salt per 5 gallons of your tank and make sure he has something to hide inside or behind to feel secure.

He'll heal naturally that way and then you dont have to use meds. Personally, Id almost never use medications. There isnt much warmer temps and salt wont heal. Good Luck!

Didn't you just treat this tank a month ago with Parasite Guard for internal worms? Did you get the 55 for Christmas or are Cons still in your 10gal.? I think you keep running into problems with your fish because you keep 10 breeding Convicts with goldfish in a 10gal. tank. You really need to lose some of those Cons or they will just keep fighting when they breed. You can keep treating them but they will continue getting sick and hurt if you keep them in that little tank.

Until you can unload some of those Convicts and get a larger tank, there are some things that can help you. For one, stop feeding them so much, especially the meat and Bloodworms. With all the decor that you have in that tank, a lot of that food is settling underneath that stuff. I'm not sure if you remove the driftwood, clay pot, and things, but that would help when cleaning the tank. That way you can really clean the gravel. Secondly, with that much stock in such a small tank, you need to do at least two water changes a week. Change about half of the water every time. Third, stop using those meds. It's a waste of money and not good on the fish to keep using it if you don't solve the problems that cause the illnesses and torn fins. When you get the 55, you should really consider keeping only a couple of females or males. The pairs seem to overrun you with fry. You'll end up with the same problems in your 55 if you don't make some changes. Convicts, Tiger barbs, and a few Cory Cats might work for you.

Wow, that's a load of cons in a 10 gallon. For sure you need to do something about that or you will have some big problems. But all you need to do is add salt. What you have is meds for parasites and it's strong meds and you don't want to add harsh chemicles if you don't need to.
