Oh great, all my fish have been flown away...
we had a big storm yesterday and lasted all day today, the pond's waterlevel has rised because of the heavy rain and on the golfcourse the 2 ponds that are around 100' apart from each other had connected to form one giant lake. but after a couple hours it had turned into a river, a extremely fast flowing river that would easily swallow small children.
And then after a couple more hours, the unexpected had happened. Our personal pond in the yard had also overflowed and was starting to connect the river. Luckily I was able to net most of my big fish and were able to place them in my neighbor's indoor pond.
But I am extremely disappointed about the ponds on the golf course. I had stocked it with carp, sunfish, largemouth bass, a single catfish, and koi.
I am sure all of the fish including the mosquito fish have been drained away somewhere and never to be seen....
I was able to rescue some carp and bass that were walking on the middle of the golf course.
The heavy rain had stopped at around 6pm and the river had started to settle down and vanish. But the fish were not quick(or smart) enough to follow the water and ended up being left on the middle of the green.lol
5 carp including one giant carp around 30lbs that my other neightbor called me and informed me in a horrified manner. lol she was all "there's a big animal, i don't know a sea lion or something on the middle of the golf course"
well i was able to rescue 5 carp, 3 bass around 4lbs that were on the verge of dying, luckily it was still raining and they had a tiny bit of water between the grass. no sunfish and probably no mosquito fish either. it'll be impossible to rescue 2" fish on a golfcourse.
But remember, be prepared if you have valuable fish in your ponds when there's a storm, you never know what will happen. You might find that lost golden koi in the sewer the next day.
net them out and take them inside in a kiddie pool or big tank or tub.
i would have been really disappointed if my fish in our personal pond had swam away. Would hate to see a dead koi on the middle of the road.
