My Mosquitofish who gave birth and wouldnt stop hiding appears to have an injury. She has a crook in her back directly above her pectoral fin, and so her rear half bends down somewhat. The tough trooper she is (her name is Bear
) she still swims and presses her nose paralel to the surface but she swims with a limping wobble, kinda like a fishing lure.
luckily she doesnt spend much time hiding like she used to. She seems to have some kind of fire inside...she just wont quit. But she gets bullied by her tankmate occasionally, so to break it up I shoot a foam dart from a nerf gun at the tank
But...is there anything I can/should do for her? It doesnt appear shes in pain, but she definatly has a tough time swimming. But she still eats (she frenzied on mosquito larvae the other day when eggs hatched out wrigglers)
Interestingly, hence the title, she kinda moves like a Sidewinder Rattlesnake, and when she hovers in place she does so with her pectorals like a Puffer sometimes does, or swims full-on with pectorals using tail like a rudder. Tough little girl. Not so little, maybe one of the biggest Mosquitoes on MFK
