my catfish is hiding behind my filter and i never see him the whole day
what should i do about this

yeah they do that, I have two Raphael I never see.

What sometimes work is giving them a hiding spot were you can actually see them.

I put a rock against the glass, so they hide between it and the glass. Still, I think they like the filter better.

maby if your fish has poor eyesight you can put in a clear tube so it thinks its hiding but you can still see it

The clear tube idea only really works for fish that use electric pulses to see, such as knifefish. Some fish, such as ghost knives, raphaels, and kuhlis are just naturally shy, and hardly ever come out of hiding during the day. For reclusive catfish, the best technique is to lean rocks against the front of the tank for the fish to hide under. Also, dimming the lights a touch might help them feel more secure.

Best of luck.

I heard switching light rotations works. Leave your lights off during the day and on at night for some time. And that will keep him out during the day and hiding during night. And eventually he may switch to being out during day and hidden at night.

I dont think messing with the fish natural day/night cycle is very healthy. But its worth trying.

the thing is my tank is in my bedroom, so I cant sleep with the lights on.

Put a blanket over him.
