my fish JUMPED my crayfish and ate it..

i noticed that they all had big bumpy stomachs and i yelled at my dad thinking he overfed them....i go back downstairs and notice that my crayfish is on his back completely gutted, my mayan cichlid and dempsey must have had a good time, both my cichlids are four inches.,.. is this okay that they did this.?

Yeah it's fine for the fish but not fine for the crayfish.

I don't see why not...they would've done it in the wild. Sorry for your loss though.

Normal. Crayfish are one of natures feeders.

guys dont be sorry they wer like 2 dollar feeder crayfish, i just had em in with my juvie cichlids so they can clean up the scraps,they actually ate 2 of em. its watever. is the meat nutrisious for my fish? lol

Yeah it is. Because they gathered the nutrients from extra/uneaten food and then your fish ate them. What a feast lol

If you weren't keeping the crayfish as pets I would get some more. It's always good when the fish can act how it would naturally in the wild.

lol all my fish are stuffed so theyre skipping dinner tonight, it made my water pretty cloudy tho so i did a 40% w/c
