I see a lot of my fish hiding all the time. Do you think that the African cichlids are being aggressive or disease? Also could this be stopping their growth because I had them for 6 months and some of them are still very tiny? Here are some photos. Also my snowball pleco is breathing rapidly. Why is that? It’s a 125 gallon.

How often do you do water changes, and how much do you change, when you do them?
In pic 2 and 3, it appears the fins have been bitten off these two fish, so there is some aggression going on, between the alphas, and the subordinate ones, which could be a reason for certain ones hiding, and lack of growth on the ones being picked on.

You should first verify your basic water cycle parameters just to rule that as a contributor. You are correct, many look to have "rotting" fins and dont look healthy. I think having torn fins is not uncommon, but their fins look to be from disease.

There are others here that can prescribe more specific recommendations. kno4te kno4te .

Personally I wouldn't worry about the pleco hiding. Plecos tend to be more nocturnal anyways. As for the other fish it could easily be fin rot but it could also be aggression amongst tank mates. Tank parameters are going to be a must to rule out fin rot or any other diseases. It would also be helpful to get a pic of the whole tank along with meserments of how large it is. Also if you don't mind what is all stocked in the tank?

I’d check ur water quality to make sure ur water isn’t bad. Is the pleco being outcompeted for food? Pleco has some missing pieces in its tail. Will need to figure out the pecking order as there’s some stress and aggression going on.

I agree with what everyone else has pointed out.

mom especially interested in the tank temperature...looks like fish that were getting attacked and cannot heal properly bc the water might be too cold???

See duanes duanes post #2. Start addressing the questions that are asked in order for us to help you. So a good start is always parameters and full water change details????

I do my water changes once a week. 60%. I do them around every Monday.
