My 300 gallon with 6 bass ranging from 14" to 22" one 8" super red severum one 6" dat and two 7" pikes. Yes a 6" dat and 7" pikes with a 22" bass. They've lived together for almost a year now and they all swim freely. Today I decided to add a 13" tiger shovelnose catfish and this happens................

By the time I pulled the tsn out it was too late. He swallows a 13" catfish but ignores a 6" dat?!?!?!?

That dat, even at it's current size won't be such an easy meal for the bass.It would stick up it's spiny dorsal fin and possibly injure the bass if it tried to engulf it.The catfish was seen as new easy meat, sized up and was greedily taken down.

Those bass will eat what they can. If the dat didn't get eaten yet I doubt it's dumb luck. Chunky bass though, you will have to buy really big fish to make it safe.
