In another thread I documented a few of my fish rescue failures, but this thread is for the fish who have thrived and brought me a feeling of success.

All of these were rescue fish, who were given to me, or who I was able to purchase at an extremely low price because they were considered too big or vicious by the owners.

Unfortunately I don't have any good info on the sources of these fish or their taxonomy. Currently, these are the ones who have survived my tender ministrations, and the aggressions of their cohort.

Little Rhino has done really well and he is finally losing some of his shyness and coming out to be photographed.

I am sure he has an L-number, but so far he has not told me what it is.

Most of my rescue fish are cichlids and catfish, and like Rhino, they currently live in this 125 in the TV room.

The Red Jewel is Jingles, and was received along with Rhino, and 12 other fish, 20 mos ago, all jammed into a 30g. The big yellow is Buttercup, a Red Zebra, and I actually bought him full grown (7"+) for $15. The little albino Pleco is Redeye and I purchased him years ago for $15. He eats all day but doesn't grow much.

BTW, I also was given the little pirate ship ornaments, the little barrel, and most of the plastic plants. I think I will give the ornaments away. They just say "PetSmart tacky" to me.

Sunflower is a Yellow Lab, and was rescued with Rhino et al.

Shots of juvenile Rhino is from his 30g, nearly 2 years ago. His coloration has changed a lot.

When I got the 30g "rescue fish" system, I got them into this 55g right away.

With 13 fish, even that was crowded.
After about a year I got them the 125g tank they now inhabit.

(More to come....)

This was the free 30g that most of the rescue fish came in. I looked back, and it was Sept 30 2018 when we got them.

Here it is sitting on my workbench and I am buliding a stand for it from a used cabinet.

He was indeed a rescue fish and quite timid when I got him. He is now much larger and a force to be reckoned with in the tank.
