hi all! this is my first post.and already i'm asking a qn:banhim:

basically, have been keeping fishes for quite a no. of years, but recently have decided to downsize due to lack of space. but because of that, i now have a BIG problem. I'm used to keeping large predatory fish, fishies like Asian Arowanas, red tail cats(>3ft) huge gars(>3ft) aba aba(1ft) huge knife fishes(>2ft) arapaimas, rays and shovelnose cats(>2ft).
From these examples, I can only say I love such fishes:headbang2.
Now, here's my problem, what predatory fishes can i keep in a 2ft by 1 ft by 1ft tank? the tank is up and is scaped with driftwood and plants in an amazonian theme. am thinking of getting shovelnoses which will transfer when they grow. other than that, i need some suggestions. please help:D

OH! just in case i get flamed, my fishes were not kept in that 2 ft tank. they are mostly housed in 6ftx2ftx2ft tanks and those bigger ones are kept in my 10 by 10 by 10 pond :)

You could get S. Rhombeous (black piranha) If you can get a baby at about 2" it will be good in there for maybe 1+ years, but obviously will need a MUCH bigger tank when fully grown, but that takes years as these are extremely slow growers

looks great, but am wondering if i'm able to find them in Singapore... when they grow big i have something for them, probably living in my pond with my big RTC...haha

you should be able to find them. lfs mark them up usually as black or white piranha, or just s. rhombeous.
Hopefully that pond will be big enough for the both of them because the serra genus is a solitary piranha unlike pygos (red bellies) u cant keep other large fish with them and certainly not their own kind, they cant tolerate it, very high aggression.
You can get away with some dither fish when they are large, but when they are babies (like mine) they will eat those aswell..lol (i tried)
i have also seen large specimens kept with a pair of convicts, but that wont last forever either.
It would be better off in its own display tank either 5 or 6' x2'x2' when fully grown.
