I got these full grown firemouth x convict hybrids last week. I started with 3 but one died from stress in quarentine. The other two are still alive but wont eat. they had hith when i first got them but they are healing up nicely now. I tried feeding all different types.of food . I.tried bloodworms ,brine shrimp , cichlid flakes, cichlid gold pellets and cichlid sticks. I thought they would have ate the bloodworms or brine shrimp but nothing . Monday to yesterday I didnt feed em to see if they would work up a appitite from not eatin and that didnt work. Imma try put a male convict with them so he can teach by example. What else can I do to get them to eat?

You might try bumping the temp up a few degrees (about 78-79). Sounds like your trying quite a few different foods.

Daphnia might be another possible food choice.

Good luck!

Its set to 78° but the water change dropped the temp with the waterchange I usually leave the heater off for a night or so to simulate the drop in temp during rainy season . Imma try the daphnia n see what happens. Im just worried they going to strave to death.

The larger female has staryed eating cichlid sticks so that a great sign. She seems to gettimg ready to spawn cuz she flairs up her gills at me when I sit in front the tank or walk past it. Imma let her finish healing then get her a male.
