I'm going to post in a couple of locations because I really need some advise.

I jsut moved my 90 gallon tank. I have two Eheim 2217 so I believe I have lots of filtration.

Moving procedure.

1. Remove fish and place in tank water in rubbermaids.
2. Remove all water and gravel.
3. Transport fish, filters and gravel (still moist)
4. Setup tank, treat water with Prime water conditioner, setup filters and let run for half hour monitoring temperature (76 degrees) - same as in last location.
5. Put in fish.

My fish were put in large rubbermaids for aroiund 3 hours before I completed move.

The first rubbermaid was around 20 gallons - content 1 11 inch O (my pride and joy) - this little basterd actually bit me while I was emptying the tank.

The second around 10 gallons - content 5 Sds.

The O transfered without issue (so far and this is my fear)/.

When I opened the 10 gallon box 2-3 were upside down. I thought they were dead.

4 seemed fine when I put them in the tank.

1 couldn't get his balance and kept swimming around upside down frantically. It was hard to watch as he swam then floated to top, then swam upside down again frantically, etc. An hour later I euthanized. All other Sds seemed fine.

36 hours later (this morning) another was in the same state and when he stoped and got stuck behind my filter uptakes I euthanized him as well.

I checked my tank readings for Ammonia and Nitrite.

Ammonia = 0

Nitrite = 0

Did not have chance to check nitrate and need to check PH and water hardness but I just moved around 5 blocks down the road so I assume that the water conditions are the same.

If anyone has any insight on what happened please let me know!!

Thanks,

Greg

silver dollars and other active fish (barbs and carps) NEED a lot of oxygen. If you keep fish in a bucket, barbs are usually the first to go. Sounds to me like they died from asphyxiation. Next time, try to keep an airstone or bubbler in your containers. Sorry for your loss :(

This is a possibility. It could also have just been stress. Or both.

Why did another die after 24-36 hours in the tank?

Makes sense though.

I did have an airstone in for awhile during the move.
