My florida gar has stopped growing???

Hi guys ive got one florida gar in a 200ltr tank, he was 6" when we got him and hes in with a 3 bar dat about 4.5" long and a 3" plec.

After letting him settle in and when he started eating he would take 2 or three small mealworms quite regularly,normally two times aday sometimes 3,but he wouldnt eat anything else.

Since then he shot up pretty quickly to 8.5" over about 5 to 6 weeks,then i tried him on crickets and he liked them,but now he doesnt eat worms and when i put a cricket in he swims off like hes scared of it?

So i tried bloodworm and after a while he started eating that like it was going out of fashio but thats all he would eat so ive stopped feeding him that for two weeks and he just will not eat anything and he is still only 8.5"??

help i want him to grow,and also he doesnt swim round as much as he used to?

im not sure about the stunting part, you'll need the "experts" to chime in, but you might wanna feed slightly more nutritious/meaty foods, such as live feeders or shrimp. feeders are, from what ive read not very nutritious and usually contain many diseases, so it's best if you eventually get it off live feeders and onto to good prepared foods.

mate get some large cichlid gold pellets... if he anit eating it in a week, its a very odd gar... mine are like dustbins for the stuff.....

and there is almost certainly a good bit of growth to follow yet.... any ideas how old it is?

Ive not got any large gold pellets at the mo but ive tried them in the past and hes not interested,and ive been putting a few small ones in and hes not touched them.

Ive never fed him live feeders because i dont really want to go down that route,the trouble is he was eating lots of small mealworms and now he wont touch them,ive been feeding the dat in the same tank some large frozen krill and he is eating that now,but the gar as far as im aware has not eaten anything in about 2 1/2 weeks.

Hes not skinny at all,he just looks the same as he always does but he just wont eat anything apart from bloodworm,but as i said before im trying to give all my fish a varied diet so i dont want to just keep feeding him bloodworm.

fairone.. and i agree... the nutritional content of bloodworms is low at best....

is he noticeably stressed at any tankmates presence? my gator stopped eating when my rd used to go nutts... removed it and all was good.... other than that all u can do is keep trying differnt stuff o be presistant... i have never known any fish to starve them selfs to death and with gars having the survial instincts they do i really doubt it will go that far....

Im just confused why he has stopped eating the worms and seems to be scared of the crickets which when he first had them i saw the predator come to life and now he swims off and hides?
