My Florida Gar is growing so fast, it is reaching 1 and a half feet now in a 50gal, I know this is too very small for the Gar. It is 3 feet in length by 1 and a half feet in height and width, that's a 50 gal right?

When I placed him in, he appeared tiny...I guess the big space triggered in him feeling free, thus grow freely. I need to get myself a bigger tank...my ultimate plan is to make a huge community tank and watch my fish swim free without feeling like living in a prison.:(

Below are some pictures of my Florida Gar taken last month, the pictures didn't turn up well. Note the fins, an aggressive fire breathing Dragon dwelling bellow, which is my female Ornate Bichir did that...suddenly becoming aggressive towards everything..hmm.

man...you should really try to get him a bigger tank. at least you know the tank is too small and arent trying to rationalize or ignore it. i would recommend for now getting at least a 2' X 6' tank. if you cant provide him w/ a larger home very soon i would seriously consider selling or giving him to someone who can. sometimes it's hard to do, but it is the best thing for him.
good luck.

also gar are very prone to being picked on by tank mates. especially in a smaller more confined space. if possible i would separate them.
again...good luck w/ them.
