my flowerhorn have improve alot!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That fish looks like my fish after I fed them Chingmix Headbooster sp50. Their pearls shrink (and eventually disappear) and their body gets kind of grey, and their red spreads, though their head does get bigger. It's like it sucks out the blue and yellow color of the fish and pumps up the red. I would suggest varying its diet and feeding less headhuncher. I think it looks better before. :-x

The improvement you see is actually your flowerhorns recovering their "normal" look prior to shipping. Your previous photos clearly show that they have water head and were mostly shrunk due to shipping(100% normal) and now are getting them back. Color and pearls obviously are coming back as well. It has nothing to do with their diet, so far that is.

Keep pumping them up!

nice fh. I would back off the chingmix. I am not certain, and I dont want to cause another debate, but I think it contains hormones. Let its genetics do all the work, and feed it a cichlid's diet. Keep up the good work

Whoops! I thought the top two pics were before pics and the bottom two were after pics of one fish! You can see why I thought what I did. I didn't know they were two different fish, I thought they were the same one! I take back my previous comment then, they look great, keep pumping them up! I still stand by my suggestion of varying the diet a bit.

JP I'm going to have to disagree. That fish looks exactly like the condition I described, the "sp50 headbooster overdose." Couple that with the fact that he said "It curently on chingmix and are seeing progress both in color and kok.but am only using the headhuncher" and I think we have our answer. You can see in the before pic that the fish has large pearls that appear to be pretty shiny, and in the after pics, the pearls have shrunken to pinhead size and no longer appear to have a sheen. I've seen this exact thing happen with 3 or 4 of my own fish.

SP50 is known/proven to make FHs lose colors and pearls. That's why chingmix discontinued it and came out with SP80. SP80's still suck, and hell I would use ANY i mean ANY cichlid pellets out there over chingmix(I hate chingmix).

But that's not what I am talking about. All I am saying is that the improvement(kok size) on these two FHs are not actual "improvements" due to chingmix, they are just returning back to their "original" look instead as they recover from shipping.
