Hi,

After 10 years of my goldfish keeping adventure, I have made a radical decision and leaved my goldfishes and begun to keep flowerhorn since two weeks. I do not know anything about flowerhorn . I only know the most necessary information such as water temperature, feeding, food types etc. But I don’t know the subtypes, race, quality, value , grade etc etc. Besides, I am not sure of my flowerhorn’s sex. The seller claimed that it is a male and It is approximately 3 months old.

Now , his length is 10 cm and I have attached its final photos. Please look at its photos and inform me about its sex, subtype and type quality. I will appreciated if I will be informed by skilful flowerhorn keepers.

Best wishes

Gorgeous fish! It is a ZZ Kamfa mix. As for sex hard to determine. I don't think thats 3 months I breed many species and flowerhorn 3 months from eggs is very unlikely even in a pond to grow them out at that size. Its what 4 inches right?

Whatever it maybe its a very nice fish. It doesn't have a Flower though on his head either and his mouth looks like kamfa they have that type of mouth formation.

Besides, Upon your reply, I have asked the seller again about its subtype again. The seller mentioned that his mother and father had been imported by a hobbyist from Singapore and the father is KamfaMalau and the mother is Blue Kamfa. But I don't know if he is telling the truth or not. But as you mentioned "whatever it maybe it is a pretty fish". I liked it. Best wishes.

They're so many things anyone can say but the fact it has red eyes means its a ZZ regardless what anyone says. Hybrids are just that you never know unless you created the fish. Even if it had a recessive gene it can be passed on or be a carrier for red eyes but don't show it the pedigree can show it down generation lines. It gets complicated with hybrids but just enjoy the fish its a really cool fish. It is a Kamfa no doubt but the eyes never lie lol

Great looking flowerhorn. The kok points towards a male but then the fins is kind of points me towards a female so I am at a lost to sex it. Male or female it's looks good. Hopefully the stomach is just full of food since it's pretty bloated on the picture.

Thanks a lot. The seller mentioned that the fish is %90 male but I am not sure. I have looked at google and according to aquarium forums, I need to make an anus-vent check. But I am not user if I could understand its gender even I will look at its vent.
