so i woke up around 8 this morning and went to go look at my 180 in the basement, i turned on the lights and everything looked normal except my female freddy was missing so i searched for her for about thirty minutes and eventually found here behind the tank wrapped in paper towels(dont ask me how) she was stiff as a board and very dry but i threw here in the tank to see if she had any life in her, she sunk to the bottom but then started heavily breathing and swimming around the tank doing barrel rolls, i didn't think she was going to make it her eyes looked cloudy and devoid of life, but a couple of hours later she was back to her normal self, her eyes weren't cloudy she was swimming very well, very tough fish

wow-shes a strong willed gal! im glad shes ok--hopefully she doesnt have any long term brain damage lol.. i had a pleco once that jumped ship, when i found him he was all dried out and i put him back in-he lived for years afterward but was a little "different" .

ya thats what im worried about

I had the same thing happen to my big JD. My wife found him and thought he was dead. I came home 45 minutes later and she pointed him out to me and he did indeed look as you described your freddy. I thought what the heck and threw him back. He did just what your fish did and is fine now. It's amazing how tough those fish are sometimes, and yet how fragile they can be as well. I am glad it all worked out.

I'm glad you were able to save her. That's a bad feeling to see a fish on the floor or have one missing from the tank.

How did she get out? Is there a way you can prevent it from happening again? I know sometimes you can't close up every hole. But, good luck and let us know how she gets along.

she looked great last night she chased away my convict, but after i got home from work today she was belly up and very pale but still breathing, her scales r peeling off she isnt going to make it
