A video of my beloved monsters.

[YT]z-MSF6FVZmg[/YT]

Stock: Silver Aro (24"+), 2 x FL Gars (~20"), P. Endlicheri (~18"), P. Ornatipinnis (~13"), Jaguar Cichlid(~13"), 3 x Oscars (~13"), and a Giant Gourami (~13")

Filtration: 2400 lph canister filter, 3x Sponge filters.

I am looking to sell the Oscars and the Giant Gourami.

I haven't found the time to put some effort into the decor of the tank, but I do intend to add some driftwood and rocks sooner or later..

Next additions are going to be more Polys. I have 4 endlis, 1 Ornate and a Del in a grow-out.

Cheers,

Sid

Your tank is the direction my tank seems to be going...reassure me and tell me that my 10" Jag is eventually going to stop herding the 16" silver are, please...maybe it's because there are only two fish in there? I have a 210.

There is no tried and tested method.. Large cichlids and Silver Arowanas are usually non-compatible...I have just been lucky, I guess.

My Aro and Jag were in separate tanks till the Aro was about 10" and the Jag about 6". They have been together since then, first in a 90G and then in this 200G.

To help your chances, try to convert the Jag to a "bottom-to-middle" level fish with the Aro as the top swimmer. Add enough large rocks/decor/driftwood to allow the Jag to demarcate a territory of about quarter of the tank's floor. This may work out if the Jag then ignore the Arowana if the Aro keeps to the top of the tank and (mostly) away from the Jag's quarter.

Another theory (again, NOT tried and tested), is to add more cichlids to disperse the aggression among the Cichlids and away from the Arowana (and the Gar).

The Cichlids in my tank do "show-boat" against each other but keep away from the non-cichlids.

As the experts have mentioned several times, and I have mentioned above, there is no tried and tested method to make Gars, Aros and aggressive Cichlids compatible. As a rule of thumb, they are not good tank mates.

My experience is, presumably, just an exception to the rule.

Cheers,
Sid
